The Year 2017

Greetings Alien Army!

With the new year coming I feel that it is always important to look back on your accomplishments and the things that happened that make you who you are at the end of it. It is rewarding to reflect because we go on with everyday life and may forget about the small achievements, but when you recall these past 365 days can't you say that you've grown? evolved? learned? soared? That you are standing at the end of this year a changed person?

I was looking back on 2017, and I believe it was a big year for Peace Alien (I hope to say that each year forward with each one surpassing the last). And I came up with a few highlights from 2017:

1. Trademarking Peace Alien

This year we got a registered trademark on the name Peace Alien. That was pretty exciting and it was even cooler to receive this official paper which is currently framed on my office wall.

2. Participating In Our First Festivals

Up until June of 2017, Peace Alien had only sold online on our website or on etsy. I had always wanted to sign up for a festival in which I could sell at a booth in person. My first festival was the WonderRoot Artist Market at Ponce City Market in Atlanta. I sold from 12 to 3 every Sunday for the month of July.

This was the first time I got to meet some of you guys, people who follow my instagram. It was incredible to meet you face to face and to see the enthusiasm expressed when people saw my brand. As people passed my table they would read my banner "Peace Alien," and smile. Smiles are contagious!!

Hit this link if you'd like to see a recap of what our Ponce City Market Festival experience was like! (Filmed and edited by my lil sis Kate Litsch. Subscribe to her Youtube!) And below that are a few pictures.

In October of 2017, we signed up for the Crabapple festival in Milton. This was a one day show but it was an all day thing. I never knew the exhaustion that would come with festivals! I could not have done it without all the help from my family and friends put in to the show day.

Ziggy our mascot was a crowd pleaser!

3. A Celebrity Wearing Peace Alien?!

It had always been a dream of mine to have a celebrity wear Peace Alien. My main goal was to have Miley Cyrus wear one of our tees because her hippie vibe fits it perfectly... and because she is a huge celebrity!

We had the opportunity to work with Jake T Austin who wanted to rep a t shirt.

If you are not familiar with Jake T Austin, he is an actor that played parts in The Fosters, Wizards of Waverly Place, and Hotel for Dogs and has over 2 MILLION instagram followers! I can not describe the feeling when he posted this picture wearing a Peace Alien shirt on his account!

 4. Goal of 10k

Since I created the @peacealien instagram in April of 2016, my goal has been to spread the word of my brand on social media. In the process people jumped on the Alien Army train by following our instagram. It has been a journey since then. Every small milestone is a celebration. When we reached 1,000 followers in 2016, my dad said, "It won't be long until 10,000!" I blew that comment off because that number seemed so out of reach.

But sure enough, mid 2017, we attained the number that once sounded so impossible! It was a celebration and so much satisfaction to achieve that dream goal. THANK YOU!

Here's to...

So to you who is reading this, thank you. Thank you for your support this year whether it was purchasing an item from our store, liking an instagram photo, or telling your friend about this brand. In any form of support It means a tremendous amount to me.

So here's to 2018 Alien Army, here's to the new festivals we will participate in, the new goals we will achieve, the new people who will know this brand, and the new opportunities to arise. Cheers 2017, it has been one heck of a ride and we cannot wait for what is to come in this new year.
